Dear Linda,
While we are devastated to hear about Gene, we are honored to have known him and hope you will find some comfort in knowing how truly respected and very loved he was. Please know our hearts are with you!
Gene will always be with me as I recall the memories and “life lessons” he unknowingly shared with me. I am a better person today because Gene was in my life.

Linda, Pilar, & Greg,
Gene was a stand-up guy. He was always available to help when anyone needed anything. His unique ability to irritate and terrorize liberals sometimes concealed his caring nature. His commitment to his wife, children, friends, and some of the people that he took pleasure in irritating was readily apparent to anyone who spent more than 5 minutes talking to him. He was truly one of the most memorable people anyone could ever meet. It was a privilege to consider him a friend. He will be missed.

We were shocked to hear about Gene and our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and the family. I knew and worked with Gene in Los Angeles and we became good friends. Toni and I also had occasion to socialize with Gene and Linda and enjoyed the time we spent together. Gene was always a delight to work and socialize with and would always brighten the day with his humor. Over the years, with moves to different areas, I regret we weren’t able to maintain close contact. However, I remember lots of great times we had together and miss the fun we had.

Dear Linda, Pilar & Greg,
Knowing Gene, through professional associations, and socializing with him and you Linda, at EPIC meetings over the years, was a privilege I hold very dear. He was an inspiration and mentor to many of us hoping to gain a modicum of his encyclopedic knowledge and well respected talent. His ability to explain or demonstrate a photographic technique made him a remarkable teacher. His kindness, humor, and caring nature made him a remarkable man.
If the age old adage of “He who dies with the most toys wins” holds true, there isn’t a photographer I know of who could even come close to Gene’s assorted collection of gear and gadgets.
My sincere condolences on your loss of a wonderful man.
I will miss him greatly.

Dear Linda and Family;
I never had a brother of the blood, but I considered Gene a brother of the soul. We cannot choose our relatives, only our friends. Linda, you and Gene were always that to me.
I met you both through EPIC. The bond was immediate and unbreakable. We only saw each other once a year but we were never far apart.
I treasure the times we spent together, the dinner at your beautiful home, the kindnesses you both extended to me in the good times and the bad.
I will miss Gene’s voice and company, but he will always be with me in my heart.
Linda, if you need anything, Julie and I are here for you,
Love always, Sandy Weiss

Dear Linda and Family,
We were so sorry to hear of Gene’s passing. Our dad Kenneth Russell worked with Gene at ATF. Dad always thought the world of Gene, he was a great friend and co-worker. When dad got sick several years ago, he was at Good Samaritan Rehab for awhile and Gene went to see him on a regular basis to give him his support and encouragement. They had a tremendous friendship. As kids growing up we all knew Gene and thought the world of him.
Sending your family our condolences, he will be missed.

If there’s a better place on the other side of the rainbow, Gene is there. A true gentleman, a scholar, a man of character and wit. A true friend and one hell of an investigator. Few investigators are as well-respected. Gene you will be missed. You and Linda have been the biggest supporters of the private investigation business in Washington. You made a real difference. If life is a test, you passed it with flying colors. One great man.
My condolences to you Linda and to the rest of your family. See you on Saturday.
